Rural and Signature Clinic

Greenstar established 110 rural clinics and 7 signature clinics in Islamabad, Punjab and KP provinces with the support of KfW between the 2012 and 2016. Greenstar supported these clinics in renovation, branding, equipment and furniture. In addition, the service providers were trained on FP advance services, MVA and PPIUCD.
The rural clinics are one or two room clinics located in the rural communities and offering basic MCH and FP services. Whereas, the Signature Clinics are 24/7 hospitals located in urban and peri-urban settings and equipped with delivery rooms, operation theaters, labs and pharmacies.
The objective to establish these clinics was to ensure quality MCH and FP services for the rural and peri-urban communities. The rural and signature clinics work together as a hub and spoke model in which Signature clinics being the hubs for the referrals from the rural clinics who are acting as spokes.
The KfW support for these clinics ended in June 2017. However, Greenstar decided to maintain the support from its own resources and continued the supply of FP commodities, supportive supervision, Quality theme visits and IPC support for these clinics.

Strategic Interventions towards sustainability:

  • Interest free loans of up to PKR 3 million for the Signature clinics
  • Around PKR 200K investment on each rural clinic in terms of equipment and renovation
  • FP Advance, PAC and PPIUCD trainings of rural and signature clinics providers Focused visits by QAMs and QTV are being conducted at these clinics.
