Government of Pakistan consider social marketing intervention
as an important strategy to advance the cause of population
welfare. Ministry of Population Welfare (MoPW) is
the nodal Ministry, with a Directorate of Social Marketing
as its focal point dealing with the subject.
Ministry of Population Welfare MoPW:

MoPW facilitates execution of SM operations, supports
access to foreign assistance and Government exemptions
for import of commodity and advertisement campaign.
SM is a nationally focused Programme, with coordination
and collaboration maintained with the Provincial and
District level institutions by Greenstar.
MoPW views Greenstar Social Marketing as a valued
partner in the population cause and acknowledges its
contributions by reflecting the performance in its
annual and monthly performance reports. Population
Policy document, Perspective Plan and Mid Term Development
Framework (2005-2010) all highlight the importance
and envisages greater future role for SM programmes.
Greenstar is represented on National Population Commission
headed by the Prime Minister as well as the National
Steering Committee on Social Marketing led by the
Secretary, Ministry of Population Welfare. Greenstar
is invariably invited to participate in all major
population events and in deliberations on policy initiatives
and in progress review sessions.
Ministry of Health (MoH):

Greenstar close relationship with Ministry of Health
is vital for registration, branding and pricing of
its products and dispensation through private providers
and at market place. This linkage is all the more
important in view of growing collaboration with various
vertical health programmes and additions of more health
related products in the SM.
In early 2006, Greenstar signed a Memorandum of Understanding
with the MoH’s National Programme for Family
Planning and Primary Health Care, marking the first
such initiative with a local Pakistani NGO. Greenstar
has been working with the National Programme to facilitate
referrals for Greenstar products and services. This
initiative will strengthen community level linkages
for mutual benefit of the two programmes. Greenstar
also has growing relationships with provincial and
district Departments of Health (DoHs) and will hopefully
broaden access to reproductive health services and
products.
Relationship with other major Government
Institutions:
Greenstar maintains regular link and close working
relations with almost all major Government Institutions
to elicit broad based support for its programme and
for specific assistance support whenever necessary
to advance its programmatic need. These include Planning
and Development Division, Economic Affairs Division,
Finance Division, Ministries of Environment, Railways,
Interior and Information and Media Development.
